Meet the Editor

Welcome to Memoirs By: Me!

Hi, I'm Carrie Wigal, and welcome to Memoirs By: Me! This memoir-writing concept first came to me when I was trying to think of something that I could do that I felt passionate about.

I was the literary editor for a prize-winning yearbook in my high school days. Then while in college although I chose accounting over journalism as my course of study, I continued to dabble in writing & layout design. I published a newsletter for fellow students at the University and continued to do so after graduation.

Then I pursued another passion of mine...acting! With the endeavor of someday writing a book in the back of my mind, I continued to pursue my dream in theater for over six years...all the while working 9 to 5 in accounting. While acting was put on the back burner when I started my family in 2001, the notion of writing a book has never left me.

In 2002, I tossed around the idea of starting a newsletter…and then it grew into a magazine. But then I just abandoned it, thinking I wasn't interested in the logistics of running a huge magazine empire.

Then…in April of 2003 I met some great people who were helping others start their own business, and a light bulb came on! Why not create a WEBSITE centered on writing memoirs? I enjoyed layout design and I've always enjoyed editing as well as writing. This could be a perfect niche for me!

So I started researching other sites on the subject and found many of them targeting an elderly audience or someone who was already in the process of writing their memoirs. Services included ghost writing and traditional book publishing. Plus many of these sites required a paid membership to be involved and it was all about writing and rarely about reading.

Hence, Memoirs By: Me was born…

Here we offer a forum to encourage anyone regardless of age, familial status, celebrity, or writing experience, the opportunity to tell his or her story. Not only do we help our members to write their stories, but we also showcase these stories in such a way that all members can give & receive feedback! Plus…we offer support through our forum…a safe and friendly environment to encourage one another. And the best part is…it's free!

If you can't tell already, I am very excited about this project, and I encourage you to jump in. What makes memoir writing so easy is you can start anywhere…and there's no wrong way in how you go about it! So why put it off any longer? Join us on this worthwhile adventure…not only will your heirs appreciate the time and effort invested, but you will receive a great sense of accomplishment in telling your story.

Last but definitely not least, I want to emphasize this site is designed for you! It's called Memoirs By: Me with the reference to "me" being you! This site is dedicated to telling your story! So please, as you get to know a little more about us, let us get to know you! Consider submitting your story.

We're glad you're here!
